The Australian Institute of Polish Affairs stands in solidarity with the Jewish community in Australia following the recent attack at Bondi Beach in Sydney.

We unequivocally condemn this act of violence and any form of hatred, intimidation, or antisemitism that threatens the safety and dignity of individuals and communities. Such attacks strike at the very foundations of a democratic and multicultural society built on mutual respect, the rule of law, and peaceful coexistence. The Jewish community has long been an integral part of Australia’s social, cultural, and civic life. At this difficult time, we extend our deepest sympathy to the victims, their families, and all those affected. 

Such acts of violence are increasingly fuelled by the deliberate manipulation of media narratives and the irresponsible amplification of extremist ideologies by social media. Disinformation, conspiracy theories, and inflammatory rhetoric contribute to an environment in which hatred is normalised and violent acts are encouraged or excused. 

We call on media organisations, public institutions, and community leaders to act responsibly, to challenge disinformation, and to reject narratives that incite hatred or violence. We call on our government to take decisive action against those who call for the destruction of Jews or Israel. Only through vigilance, truth, and solidarity can we safeguard the safety and cohesion of our society. We call on Australians of all backgrounds to come together in solidarity and to uphold the shared values that bind us as a multicultural nation.
